Leadership college Q & A-

  • Is this a paid internship? Alive Leadership College is not an internship and does not pay students. ALC is an opportunity for young adults to receive a quality online education through SAGU from a Christian perspective, while getting hands on ministry and leadership training.

  • Is housing provided? Housing is provided and “required” for those enrolled in the full-time “student track”. The decision is based on the needed spiritual, emotional, and mental growth for students developing themselves as young adults in the church and community.

  • What if I am under 18? Rising High School Seniors under 18 can apply for our Summer Internship only and Early Enrollment Classes with SAGU (Juniors & Seniors in Highschool).

  • Do I need my own transportation? It is highly recommended that students have a vehicle. Not having transportation may limit your ability to fulfill ALC requirements.

  • Do I need a personal laptop? Yes. You will need a laptop to complete regular assignments both for educational purposes and hands-on assignments from pastors and staff. It will need at least Microsoft Office or Apple's basic word doc programs (pages, numbers, keynote).

  • Will I be able to get a job during the year? Students are allowed to have part-time job as long as their schedule doesn’t interfere with the required schedule. Most of the students work on their off days and evenings. Alive Leadership College partners with a staffing agency to provide students the opportunity of paid work at different events on the east coast to earn extra money.

  • Weekly Schedule? The student track is a full time commitment. The students are involved in daily study sessions, leadership classes, and one-on-one ministry assignments. Depending on the student’s selected focus ministry the schedule may involve some evening events, conferences, camps, or occasional weekends. The regular work schedule is Tuesday-Friday and Sundays. Any night events that students are required to attend are communicated in advance to adjust work schedules.

  • Main Events? All church wide events are mandatory and are considered “all hands on deck” unless communicated differently by oversight pastor or site director. Events that include travel are not guaranteed for all students.

  • What will I gain from attending ? Good question…but what will you lose from investing at least ten months growing closer to God and serving as Jesus served? Through your time here you will possess valuable ministry experience, receive leadership training, and discover and develop your gifting. On top of the amazing hands-on experience and spiritual growth students also develop themselves through online classes at a collegiate level. The collegiate track offers online classes through SAGU (Southwestern Assemblies of God University) with five Associate Degrees, six Bachelor Degrees, and three Master's degrees.

  • Will I be able to complete ALC assignments at only one campus? No. You will be utilized at all of our campuses throughout the school year.

  • Will I be required to pass a background check? Yes. If you are 18 or older you will be required to complete a background check. References will also be contacted as part of your consideration for Alive Leadership College.

  • Will I work in one area during the school year? Not exactly. You will receive direct oversight from the pastor of the ministry focus you choose. However, you will experience almost every ministry area of the church to witness the role each ministry plays to fulfill the mission and vision of the church.
